OBD Codes
On Board Diagnostics is a system to record faults in the vehicle's systems. The most common, accessible system is the OBD2
or EOBD system. These codes are divided into classes. When you see a code, it will start with a letter.
P is for Powertrain which will be the most common code. B and C stands for Body and Chassis respectively.
It will be followed by 4 numbers. The first digit will usually be a 0, and this denotes standard OBD codes. If you have 1 as your
first digit, you have a manufacturer specific code, which will require a look up table specific to the vehicle's maker.
The
second digit is the fault class, and the final two relate to the specific fault.
